Immanent-ize / ˈɪmənəntʌɪz

In political theory and theology, to immanentize the eschaton means trying to bring about the eschaton (the final, heaven-like stage of history) in the immanent world. In all these contexts it means "trying to make that which belongs to the afterlife happen here and now on Earth".

I first came across the term as a first year philosophy student and have be thinking about it ever since. It’s mostly used in the pejorative, a warning that man should not try and play God. Which is fair play really.

But it can also be interpreted as a call to get busy, daring us to take an active role in shaping our collective future. It’s a paradoxical term, which is why I think it suits HealthTech.

The snake eating its own tail is an ouroboros, representing the circle of life (and the inspiration for Echo’s logo). Again, paradoxical, confusing, and perfect.
